Jackfruit is a huge tropical fruit with sweet, stringy yellow flesh, large seeds and a spiky green rind. Ripe jackfruit flesh is generally fine in small amounts, but it is sugary, and the rind, sap and seeds cause problems.

How to serve jackfruit to your dog

Offer only ripe flesh, cut into small pieces
Remove every seed and all of the rind
Keep portions tiny because of the high sugar

Treats, including jackfruit, should stay under about 10% of your dog's daily calories. As a rough starting point, small dogs can have 1 to 2 bite-size pieces, medium dogs 2 to 4, and large dogs a small handful. Introduce it slowly and do not make it a daily habit.
