Can Cats Eat Figs?

Are figs safe for cats?
Figs are soft, sweet fruits full of tiny seeds that grow on fig trees (Ficus). A tiny bit of ripe fig is unlikely to cause harm, but fig plants (Ficus) are toxic to cats, so keep the plant and its leaves away from them. Cats are obligate carnivores, so they get what they need from meat and never need figs. If you offer them at all, treat them as a rare, tiny extra.

- Offer only a piece or two
- Choose fresh over dried

How many figs can my cat have?

Watch for vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, pawing at the mouth, loss of appetite, tiredness, a swollen or painful belly, or trouble breathing. Contact your vet right away if you see these signs, or if your cat has eaten any of the parts listed above.
