Are chicken bones safe for dogs?

Chicken bones, cooked or raw, are a classic hazard because cooked bones splinter easily into sharp pieces. Cooked chicken bones become brittle and can splinter, causing choking, mouth injuries, or damage and blockage in the digestive tract. Raw bones are somewhat less brittle but still carry a real risk and a bacterial one.
